My Friend Barnard

I have a friend named Barnard. He is, bar none, the fittest octogenarian I know. I have to hustle to keep up with him--and I'm not feigning humility about that. He is also one of the kindest and gentlest souls I have ever met. I feel a deep love for him.

I took the opportunity to ask Barnard about his morning routine, knowing that our daily habits make or break all of us, and therefore knowing that he has good ones. He starts around 5 AM, runs for 15-20 minutes on a trampoline, does 65 pushups (!), eats fruit, and then studies the scriptures with his wife over breakfast.

Soon thereafter he is off to work in his home office--he is the president of a health foods company, not infrequently sporting his wares with friendly delight.

I love my friend Barnard, and I hope to be like him when I am...old.
